Boat and Drift Launching
2005-06-04

Boat and drift launching is accomplished with the turbolauncher if you follow the loading instructions.

Shorten line/lines on the one of the wing tip sides by gathering an extra meter or two of line at the gathering point when  you push the lines and trim strap into the cavity/hollow of the turbolauncher. Bring your lines through the slit and begin the usual wrapping.

You will end up with  asymmetrical line ends. The pigtail ends shorter by 1 to 1.5 meters on the one side .

Hook your kite up normally.

When releasing your kite on its leading edge in the water(during drift launches or boat launches the kite will move away from you at an angle (the edge of the wind window) slowly as the line comes of the spool.

The kite cannot power up and this gives you time to get ready.

This can only be accomplished if the lines are wrapped shorter on the one side  verses the other side and this forces the kite to the edge of the wind window even though the kite is on its leading edge floating away from you!

Good Luck!

It works.
